David Bailey – Stardust
Padiglione D’Arte Contemporanea (PAC)
Via Palestro 14, 20122 Milano, Italy
Padiglione D’Arte Contemporanea (PAC) in Milan presents the historical exhibition Stardust on the work of David Bailey, one of the most famous photographers in the world, who has made an outstanding contribution to the visual arts through his imaginative portraits.
The engagement between the artist and his subject is palpable and present in all his photographs: those made with celebrities like Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Jack Nicholson and Kate Moss; nudes of unknown volunteers who posed for his project “Democracy” between 2001 and 2005; and those of music icons like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones; to the great protagonists of the visual arts like Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon and Damien Hirst.
For this exhibition, Bailey has created new prints in silver gelatin, which allowed him to review each individual image. His inimitable style, timelessly captures the Zeitgeist and the vitality of modern culture through its unique interpretation: the images convey a creativity and a temperament that are unmistakeably Bailey.
