STILL LIFE OR LA TABLE GARNIE, BY FANTIN LATOUR, AND 100.RÇ-CMB, 101.RÇ-CMB (FROM THE SERIES CONFIDENCIAL/DESCLASSIFICADO: RAÇÃO DE COMBATE), BY MANUEL BOTELHO
Two periods, two artists, two works. A dialogue that unfolds in time; encounters, mismatches, questionings. Meeting Point 2 brings to the foreground the theme of still life represented in the painting of Henri Fantin-Latour (1836-1904) and in the photography of Manuel Botelho (1950). This is an opportunity to explore contrasting features in the work of two artists from different periods, using distinctive mediums and techniques, who share the same artistic genre.
The project has its venue at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, and aims to establish a dialogue (or confrontation) between the collections of the Museum and the Modern Art Centre’s, promoting a meeting point, expanding the meaning of the art pieces and further knowledge about the artists.
